Main differences between expensive and low-priced wines

Q The main differences between low price, mid range and premium wines is around the total process of how they are made, what quality level of fruit is used and where the wine grapes came from originally.

Generally to make a “cheap” but ok wine a wine marketer will source excess “juice” that is going at a good rate, likely mix it with other ” unwanted” but related raw wine grape crush and who knows what else. The result is a sometimes wonderful hotch potch drink but more often than not usually a pretty nasty tasting but effective wine that will numb the brain but not please the heart.

Mid range quality is usually better quality grape juice/fruit from trusted growers and sometimes blended to enhance taste and often crafted to some degree by the more well known “wine magicians” to create a great tasting “entry level” or slightly premium quality wine. Most of these you can rely on to deliver results, if, you know a bit about regions, vintages, wine growers etc

The premium or reserve level of wine (and this can go from affordable to you got to be kidding) is usually for those who can afford the finer things and appreciate certain artisan methods, long bottle times and famous wineries and regions. In these wines you find the absolute best (usually single source) fruit, careful processing and a focus on usually not releasing products until considerable time has elapsed to mature these amazing taste sensations.
